I’ve just posted the documentary I made on the netaudio festival series STFU on YouTube. Here’s the first part of it:

STFU Documentary 1 / 5

You can check out the other parts on the Neo Ouija Channel over at YouTube.

News regarding the Neo Ouija relaunch are coming soon, expect a major announcement in early May. We’re very excited about the upcoming releases and so should you.

Sorry for the lack of updates..

A new year is upon us and my poor old site has been shamefully neglected. For 2008 I’ll relaunch this webspace, so watch out for some new information on that. Working on a new album and material for several 12″ at the moment and keeping busy with writing for a music technology magazine. I hope everyone’s in for a happy 2008!

Now there’s a meeting of proud hoofed animals that was waiting to happen. Deer plays live at the Zebra Bar in Brussels, Belgium on October 27th. My thanks to Aschka who invited me! She’ll also perform her excellent liveset that night, so be sure to stop by if you’re in the area.

Release Dates! Blog Integration! Too much caffeine!

Fresh from the printing press, there’s a few upcoming Deer releases I want to shamelessly plug:

Metamatics - Personal Jesus 12 inch
(Hydrogen Dukebox DUKE146DJV) out May 25, 2007

Worth checking out for both Metamatics’ lush cover version and the remixes (one by Plumbline, one by myself). Go get one before the Depeche Mode fanboys are all over it!

VA - Traffic III 4/4 10 inch
(Combination Records CORE 050) out June 2007

This beautiful 10 inch record features a collaboration between myself and Norken, resulting in a Detroity house track with some lush melodic hooks - just the first in a series of Norken+Deer collaborations..

This is the first time any of my stuff has appeared on vinyl, so I’m understandably pretty excited about it all. In other news, I just integrated this blog (regicide.org) into my account at the social networking and music promotion page I have at Virb - if you’re into that kind of thing, check it out. New music coming soon!

Sorry for the downtime…

No idea how that happened, but it seems the site was down for a bit. It’s fixed now, obviously. ;)

I’m going to post some new tunes and dates for gigs soon, right now preparations for the Neo Ouija relaunch (and related research and bureaucracy) are taking up a lot of my free time. In the meantime, please check out my Virb sites for both Deer and Neo Ouija. Myspace looks like the ugly mess it really is next to this.

Neo Ouija Returns!

Well, the cat is out of the bag… One of the finest electronic music labels (purely subjective opinion of course) is going to be back and I still can’t believe I’m actually going to run it. Lee Norris aka Metamatics/Norken/Nacht Plank, the man who founded Neo Ouija in 2000 is still going to be a part of it all, but I’ll be running the everyday business of the label. Stay updated as we step back onto the music scene in 2007. Click the image below to visit our MySpace Page. We’ll soon have our own website and more info on the first releases.

In other news, a remix I did for Christian Rottler will be out soon on nd.baumecker’s Freundinnen label.

Upcoming Releases…

I’ve been busy working on some remix and collaboration projects recently, so keep your eyes peeled for some Deer remix action on an upcoming Metamatics 7″ on Hydrogen Dukebox and a collaboration with Norken on one of Combination Records’ excellent Traffic 10″ compilations. Plans for a Norken / Deer collaboration album are already in place. :)

Also in the pipeline is a remix I did for Christian Rottler, which may see the light as 12″ release, together with a treatment by Douglas Greed, eventually.

The “secret” project is coming along nicely, we’re hoping to launch in May. What? Not quite ready for primetime yet… watch this space.

Between the Holidays

..is a good time to think about plans for the next year, which in my case amounts to some hefty planning. There’s lots of things coming up: First off, there’s (of course!) more STFUs planned for next year. First up is a three-day festival at the ESCatelier in Rome end of January, where I’ll be playing on Saturday the 27th. I’ll have to skip the STFU in Porto and Lisbon in March by the looks of it, but if you’re in the area you shouldn’t miss it. I’ve started work on a new album, hopefully will be finished by early summer. It will be a bit of a development from my last few EPs, I’m still trying to find a balance between grooving dancefloor tunes and intricate soundscapes though. Plenty of collaborations are in the works as well, plus a new top-secret project (unrelated to _my_ music) that I know will make many people out there happy. In the summer Millicent, Quip and myself are planning a roadtrip and some gigs on the westcoast US and Canada, but that’s still quite a ways off. Everyone have a happy christmas and a great new year 2007!

Here’s a work-in-progress of a track for your enjoyment:

Deer live at STFU Helsinki

I finally got around to encoding the liveset from STFU Helsinki. It’s a little rough around the edges, but it was my first experience using the Monome 40h controller in a live situation and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out - and it did get a bunch of people dancing as well.

You can download the whole thing over on the music page.
